Welcome to the S.O.U.P. Update Page
Your Source for the Latest News About our Renovation
If you've had a chance to visit our home page or our search page, you've seen the first changes resulting from Phase 1 of an 18-month effort dubbed the Site Overhaul and Update Project (S.O.U.P.). This effort will deliver a complete overhaul of the technology that helps TechSoup.org run smoothly, including work that has been done on our servers, new software packages to upgrade our major systems, and a new website design.
It's about time, you might say. We think so, too. We've explored several different ways to support and fund S.O.U.P., while continuing to serve the community of 400,000 nonprofits and libraries that come to our site, and we've decided on a phased approach over 18 months. We've been very fortunate to have Microsoft and the William Randolph Hearst Foundation provide us with financial and in-kind support to move this effort forward.
What you see today, Phase 1, offers several key improvements:
- An easier-to-use redesigned home page,
- An upgraded search function,
- An improved search results page, and
- A single sign-on for our U.S. registered users.
While these upgrades should improve your experience on the site, the phased approach also has its challenges. For example, while the home page and the search results page have been redesigned, the articles and forums have not yet been updated.
We invite your feedback and comments if you encounter any problems. Of course, we'd love to hear positive comments as well. You can do so by utilizing the black Feedback button located on the right side of this page. This Feedback button is also seen on the home page and search page. Together, we'll make TechSoup.org work harder - and smarter - than ever before.
